Gilbert S. Palter

Chairman of the Board

Mr. Palter joined EdgeStone as Managing Partner in 1999 from Eladdan Capital Partners, a Toronto-based mid-market private equity investment fund where he was founder and CEO. His boutique investment bank, Eladdan Enterprises, specialized in buy-side mergers & acquisitions advice to Canadian and American companies particularly on cross-border deals.

Mr. Palter's career includes mergers & acquisitions work at Morgan Stanley and Smith Barney, as well as management consulting at McKinsey & Company and merchant banking at Clairvest Group Inc. Mr. Palter holds a Bachelor of Computer Science and Economics from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Harvard Business School.


Cesar Cesaratto

Cesar Cesaratto’s career has included more than 30 years with Nortel Networks, spanning product development, business development, operations, and sales & marketing in both North America and Europe.

Mr. Cesaratto has held a number of executive positions with Nortel including Group Vice President for world wide component operations and supply management, President and Chief Operating Officer Nortel-Matra, a joint venture in France; President of Enterprise Solutions, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa); and most recently, President of Wireless Solutions, EMEA.

Mr. Cesaratto is involved with a number of start-up companies in the Ottawa area as an Angel investor.  In November of 2007, Mr. Cesaratto joined the Board of Directors of BreconRidge Corporation, and is also Chair of the Board of Applied Microcircuits (AMCC).  Previously, Mr. Cesaratto sat on the Board of Directors for Gennum Corporation.  Mr. Cesaratto holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University.


Peter D. Charbonneau

Mr. Charbonneau is a Partner in Skypoint Capital Corporation; a venture capital management firm that forms and manages venture capital funds focused on the telecommunications and information technology industries. Prior to joining Skypoint, Mr. Charbonneau held a variety of senior executive positions with Newbridge Networks, most recently as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.

He joined Newbridge as the Chief Financial Officer in its early days as a startup and was subsequently promoted to the positions of Executive Vice President, President and Chief Operating Officer over the next 13 years. He was a member of the Newbridge Board of Directors from 1996 until 2000.

During his years at Newbridge, Mr. Charbonneau was instrumental in establishing the Newbridge Affiliates Program and was involved in the start-up investment in more than 40 partly owned affiliate companies. Mr. Charbonneau represented Newbridge as a board member of many of these companies. Mr. Charbonneau currently sits on the Board of Directors of Mitel Networks, Telus Corporation and a number of private companies.


Sandra Cowan

Sandra Cowan brings over 15 years of legal experience to EdgeStone Capital. Prior to working with EdgeStone, Ms. Cowan was a senior partner of Goodman and Carr LLP. Ms. Cowan’s practice specialized in private equity and corporate finance transactions, including fund formation, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, cross-border and public market transactions. She is generally considered to be one of Canada's leading private equity lawyers and has been consistently recognized as a leading practitioner by Lexpert, one of Canada's foremost legal publications.

Ms. Cowan serves on the Board of Directors of Augigen Capital Re Limited, Eurospec Manufacturing and Tooling, New Food Classics, Specialty Catalog, The Continental Group and BreconRidge Corporation. She is also a former director of BFI Canada, Farley Windows, Hair Club Group and Richards Packaging. Ms. Cowan has a L.L.B. from the University of Western Ontario.


Joe Culp

Mr. Culp has been a Director of BreconRidge since June 2003. Mr. Culp has 40 plus years experience in the Telecommunications industry, including being the President of the Telecommunications Group of Rockwell International, a $700M telecomm equipment business with customers such as the RBOC's, long distance carriers, and international PT&T's.

Mr. Culp was also president of Lightnet a fibre based carrier owned by Southern New England Telephone (now SBC Corporation), and CSX, Incorporated. Currently President of his consulting firm, Culp Communications Associates, Culp consults widely in the Telecommunications arena.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mr. Culp has also served on advisory Boards at UT Arlington and the University of Arkansas.


Cyril McKelvie

Mr. McKelvie is the President & CEO of BreconRidge, as well as a founding member of the Company. He brings over 20 years of senior management experience in engineering, research and development and telecommunications operations. Prior to joining BreconRidge, Mr. McKelvie was General Manager of GSI Lumonics' optical division from 1999 to 2001.

Previously, Mr. McKelvie was Vice President of Operations for JDS Uniphase from 1997 to 1999. Under his tenure JDS' operations grew by more than 200% a year in both revenue and profitability. Prior to JDS, Mr. McKelvie held a number of key positions at Newbridge Networks in both research and development and operations from 1986 to 1997. In these roles, Mr. McKelvie was instrumental in building Newbridge's new product introduction process from its earliest inception.


Jose Medeiros

Mr. Medeiros is the President of Wesley Clover, the private venture capital firm of Sir Terence Matthews. Mr. Medeiros has been with several of Mr. Matthews' group of companies since July 1993. Mr. Medeiros holds a number of senior management positions in Wesley Clover's subsidiaries. He is currently the President of the Brookstreet Hotel and Celtic Tech Jet Limited. He was previously Chief Financial Officer of Celtic House International and Director of Taxation at Newbridge Networks.

His current private company directorships include Wesley Clover Corporation, The Celtic Manor Resort, Solace Systems, Inc., Natural Convergence Inc., Wesley Clover Solutions Inc. and BreconRidge Corporation.

Mr. Medeiros is a chartered accountant and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce from the Université du Québec à Hull.


Bruce Rodgers

Mr. Rodgers is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of BreconRidge as well as a co-founder . He has over 25 years experience in the electronics field including engineering, operations and senior management experience in the telecommunications and networking industries. Prior to joining BreconRidge, Mr. Rodgers co-founded DragonWave Inc., a wireless infrastructure company, where he was Vice President of Operations. Preceding his tenure at DragonWave Inc., he held various senior management positions at Newbridge Networks from 1986 to 1991 and held the position of Executive Vice President of Operations from 1992 to 1999.


In this role, Mr. Rodgers was responsible for all aspects of global operations including procurement, manufacturing distribution, repair, and quality. Mr. Rodgers and his team were instrumental in establishing and servicing the operations outsourcing model employed by several of the approximately 40 start-up companies that were Newbridge Affiliates (start-up communications companies where Newbridge generally owned 30%). Prior to joining Newbridge, Mr. Rodgers held a variety of engineering and management positions at Rockwell International's Telephone Products Division in Canada where he was responsible for Manufacturing Operations.
