Job Title: Production Controller
Location: Kanata, Ontario
Status: Full-time
As a Production Controller, you would serve as a focal point for the co-ordination of the manufacturing of client product. You would use manufacturing process expertise to ensure that a given product is manufactured according to plan, providing guidance and troubleshooting issues as they arise. You would plan, monitor, and facilitate product launch, ensuring all production and related deliverables and schedules are met, through communication and influencing of internal colleagues and established clients.
Specific Responsibilities
- Daily review of the production tracker and schedule to validate completion date and quantity. Communication with Planning regarding reschedules required on a daily basis. Meet build start and completion dates and escalate issues that may affect commitments.
- Work with Program Managers and Engineering to ensure that all requirements are available (in place) prior to work commencing and MMPP status is released - Materials, Resources, Drawings, Schematics, Process Instructions, Applications, Software, Etc.
- Manage Work Orders from release to completion, working with Manufacturing Team Leads and managers for prioritizing, sequencing builds, etc. Ensure “no-pops” and material substitutions are clearly identified on manufacturing orders and to the shop floor.
- Ensure unplanned usage requirements are identified to orders in SAP, inventory replenishment is completed and if required, missing parts records are created for shortages.
- Manage manufacturing rework orders for WIP from creation to completion.
- Work with Product Data Management and Engineering on-going to update master data as pertains to accuracy of routings and workcenters.
- Work with Planning on plan related master material settings, etc to ensure a closed loop.
- Review workcenter(s) capacity and load and participate in the creation of action plans to resolve capacity constraints. Ensure data in SAP is accurate.
- Support the implementation of new materials management strategies, identify weaknesses (eg: kit vs POU, ideal part reel formats, etc).
Skills/Qualifications/Education

- Minimum of 5 – 7 years of practical experience in all aspects of manufacturing, planning and distribution processes and a strong understanding of the interrelationships between these processes
- College Diploma in Business Administration – Materials Management or Operations, with 3-5 years relevant experience
- APICS certification is an asset
