Job Title: Trainer, IPC Solder / Rework / Repair / Inspection
Location: Kanata, Ontario
Status: Full-time
Purpose:
To set up and administer an IPC solder training program for operations personnel in SMT, Through-hole hand soldering, Wave soldering, Test debug, and inspection. This involves defining course requirements, specifying training material, purchasing supplies, setting up a training area, and delivering courses. It is expected that the program meets all the requirements in order to meet IPC certification for operators. The target for the resulting program is to train more than 200 operators in Basic Soldering skills, rework, and repair over a time frame of 6-12 months and then potentially extend this to China. All continuing recertification would be a continued requirement.
Specific Responsibilities
- Define training requirements based on industry norms and IPC guidelines including course content, course duration, and frequency of re-certification
- Perform training to the operators with a level of experience to achieve improved results and have a high level of success for the courses delivered.
- To look at current resources and available equipment and tools to identify any requirements needed to carry out the training.
- Work with Operation Leaders to schedule and time manage the training to have he least impact on production.
- Work with the Quality department providing the information for them to maintain training records.
- Work with production lead hands to gain support where required for input on performance feedback and skills assessment.
- The candidate must operate with a level independence and innovation to achieve the target goals with little direction.
- To have the ambition to continually improve the training requirement to keep up with current technologies not allowing any level of obsolescence.
- To be a resident expert in IPC acceptability and be confident to deal with customer concerns and support audits effectively.
Skills/Qualifications/Education
- A relevant engineering degree, science degree or technical diploma.
- IPC trainer certification is a definite asset. It will be required to attain.
- Training or teaching experience.
- Minimum of 7 years experience in electronics manufacturing.
- Soldering Skills would be another important asset but not mandatory.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Results orientated
- Ability to work within a team and independently
- English required, Chinese and French would be assets
