End-to-End Test Strategy

System Test
Complementing structural and functional tests, BreconRidge offers full system test solutions as part of an end-to-end test strategy. The system test development methodology includes the creation of system test plan and application for integrating system hardware and software, system-level parametric tests, embedded diagnostics, intra- and inter-shelf interactions, mechanical and electrical system integrity tests and interoperability tests for systems and networks.

Optical System Testing
BreconRidge offers comprehensive test solutions for optical products. Examples of measurement capabilities include insertion loss, return loss, polarization dependant loss, back reflection, spectral performance, gain, noise figure, active and passive device characterization. BreconRidge has expertise in providing optical in-process and final test measurements for fusion splicing of standard and specialty fibers such as SMF-28, EDF, MMF, small core fiber, PMF and ribbon fiber cable splicing; using a variety of slicing equipment (Fitel and Ericsson) and splice recoaters (Vytran).

In addition, BreconRidge develops and implements processes for optical fiber management and routing, fiber-to-chip alignment and optical connector inspection techniques.

Burn-In Test
BreconRidge develops Customer-specific burn-in solutions, designed to screen potential early life failures due to random and unavoidable defects in components / materials, accounting for product specific requirements such as temperature range, temperature cycle, static burn-in, dynamic burn-in, etc.

Hi-Pot Test
BreconRidge has developed a generic Hi-Pot test process, designed to verify the safety of products and anyone who may come in contact with these products. The following manufacturing tests are typically performed by the Hi-Pot tester:

  • Dielectric Withstand Test: The unit under test is expected to operate normally when exposed to a voltage significantly higher than normal, for a specified duration of time. The test is designed to detect weak insulating materials, pinched or pin holes in insulation, inadequate spacing of components.
  • Ground Bond Test: This test determines whether the safety ground circuit of the unit under test can adequately handle fault current if the product should ever become defective to ensure that the breaker of the input line will act quickly to protect the user from any serious electrical shock.

Cable Scan Test
As an integral part of an end-to-end test strategy, BreconRidge develops and implements Cable Scan tests, designed to provide high-speed continuity, shorts and isolation measurements. Cable Scan testers can be used for a broad range of test applications such as diode testing, resistance and capacitance measurements. In addition to Cable Scan testing for low voltage applications (5 VDC), BreconRidge has developed Cable Scan high voltage applications (1500 VDC) for the testing of high resistance isolation (typically used to verify the quality of cable harness insulation material) and high current continuity (typically used to test the quality of cable harness connections).
